The Rangers headed to the links early, as usual, this season and have already begun to shake things up within the organization. Chris Drury, who had been serving as the Ranger’s assistant GM was named the general manager of the Hartford Wolf Pack of the AHL on Tuesday. Former Hartford GM Jim Schoenfeld will now focus on his role with New York.

Drury spent last season as the director of player development for the Rangers, and was reportedly a possible candidate for Buffalo’s GM vacancy, but the Rangers denied the Sabres request for an interview. He played four seasons with the Blueshirts and was named the team’s 25th captain in 2008.

Rangers GM Jeff Gorton also announced yesterday that Wolf Pack head coach Ken Gernander has been fired.
