The Chargers seemed poised to be on the move to Los Angeles next summer, joining the Rams who moved in this past year. The team, which spent the 1960 season in L.A. before moving to San Diego, were given an option at the owners meeting last January. Dean Spanos, the team’s chairman, has until January 15, 2017, only a month and a half away, to officially decide on the move.

The Chargers would have a tenant-lease agreement with the Rams and owner Stan Kroenke at what will be the Rams new stadium in L.A. The teams would share revenue, including naming rights, advertising, and sponsors, while being able to sell their own season tickets and seat licenses.

The team would still be on the hook for the league’s $650M expansion fee, which has to be paid over 10 years, as well as the expenses to construct a practice facility in the area.

At the NFL owners meeting in Dallas this month, the team’s situation, as well as the Oakland Raiders who intend to move east to Las Vegas, will be discussed further.
