Notre Dame redshirt junior quarterback Malik Zaire is expected to be officially release from the school tomorrow, after a scheduled meeting with coach Brian Kelly. Seeking a transfer, Zaire can play immediately at his new school, a list that includes Florida, Michigan State, Pitt, and Wisconsin.
After a broken right ankle two games into the 2015 season, Zaire was able to earn the right to split the job with DeShone Kizer this season, according to Kelly after spring camp. Zaire, however, lost the starting job in a loss against Texas in the first game of the season.
Zaire finishes his stint at Notre Dame with a 3-0 record as a starter, with a 59.2 completion percentage, 6 touchdowns, and zero interceptions.
