For the second time this year, rapper Mike Stud dropped a song featuring current Blue Jays pitcher, and his former teammate at Duke, Marcus Stroman. In a follow up to January’s “These Days”, the title track to Stud’s third album, the duo released “Shine” last night on SoundCloud.

Stud had a successful pitching career at Duke, posting a 1.61 ERA (a Duke record) and 9 saves in 28 appearances as a freshmen, before Tommy John surgery caused him to miss the entire 2010 season. Rapping started as a hobby to cope with not being able to pitch, and has turned into a successful career in the industry.

Stroman entered the big leagues in 2014 with the Blue Jays, posting an 11-6 record with a 3.65 ERA. After an ACL surgery limited him to 4 starts in 2015 (4-0, 1.67), Stroman returned to the lineup for a full year this past season, finishing the campaign with a 9-10 record, 4.37 ERA, and 166 strikeouts in 32 starts for Toronto.
