Thursday night in Ottawa, James Neal scored his sixth straight game, tying a Nashville team record, held by Peter Forsberg, Patric Hornquvist, Alexander Radulov, and J-P Dumont. Neal’s eight goal of the season was set up by a perfect cross-ice pass from defenseman P.K. Subban. Colton Sissons, Ryan Ellis, Mike Ribiero, and rookie Pontus Aberg (1st career goal) added tallies for the Preds in the victory. Pekka Rinne added 30 saves in a winning effort. Offseason acquisition Derick Brassard scored for the Sens, their first power play goal in their last 16 chances.
Predator captain Mike Fisher was honored by the Senators for playing in his 1000th career game this season. Fisher played 675 games for the Sens from 1999-2011, before being traded to Nashville in February of 2011 in exchange for a 2011 first round pick (Stefan Noesen) and a 2012 conditional pick (3rd round).
Nashville moves to 7-6-3 on the year with the victory, only the team’s second on the road so far. They will travel to St. Louis to take on the Blues on Saturday night. The Sens fall to 10-6-1 on the year and await a visit from the Florida Panthers this weekend.
