The New England Patriots made news Monday when they traded All-Pro and Pro Bowl linebacker Jamie Collins to the Cleveland Browns in exchange for a third-round compensatory draft pick. Collins goes from a 7-1 team with a quarterback out for vengeance to the 0-8 Dawg Pound, with the worst ranked defense in the league, who can’t seem to get out of their own way.
So far this year, Collins has totaled 31 tackles and 1.0 sack. Last season, he finished with 89 tackles, 5.5 sacks, and an INT. The trade came as a shock to many as Collins is one of the best defenders for New England, but as we all know, the Pats have a funny way of making everything work just fine. A free agent after this season, Collins is reportedly seeking a deal worth $11M per season.
At least fans of the Mistake on the Lake have seen recent success in their Cavs and Indians. Oh, and then there’s this: “This is the G Podawdund”? Somebody make that a hashtag.
